History
This mine used to be part of Perkinsbeach Mine
before it was split into a different section.
It was also known at one time as part of Stiperstones Mine. Little else is known about its history.
Surface Remains
The entrance of Deep Level is gated but it is blocked by a fall a short
distance inside, corresponding to a collapsed shaft on the hillside above. There are the remains of mine buildings
adjacent to the entrance.
There is an open air shaft in the wood to the north which is blocked at
90ft. Just to the north-west of this is
a short trial level which has been grilled.
Further up the valley is a 300ft deep shaft which has been capped with
concrete. There is water at the bottom
and this is assumed to be Deep Level. Adjacent
to the top is the base of the winding engine. There are several collapsed levels and
buildings in the valley leading up to the top, where there is a collapsed shaft
and tips.
